Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Saryu, a macOS application and associated website (collectively, the "Service") operated by Vinay Mora ("we," "our," or "us"). By downloading, installing, or using Saryu, you agree to these Terms.

1. License Grant

Subject to your compliance with these Terms and payment of applicable fees, we grant one named user a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Saryu on up to two or five registered macOS devices, according to the option purchased. Commercial use is included for that user.

This license does not include the right to: (a) modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software; (b) rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute, or sublicense the software; (c) use the software for any unlawful purpose; or (d) remove or alter any proprietary notices.

2. Purchases & Payments

Free Trial

New users receive 72 hours of full access after first reaching the usable app workspace. No card is required. The trial includes clean unrestricted exports, commercial use, and 30 cloud transcription minutes.

One-Time Purchase

New customers can purchase Saryu for one payment of $24.99 for up to two Macs or $49.99 for up to five Macs. A two-Mac owner can upgrade to five Macs for exactly $25. If one person needs Saryu on more than five Macs, contact hello@saryu.app. The pricing page and Stripe checkout show the final charge before you pay.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We store the purchase and entitlement details needed to provide access, but Stripe handles payment card information. Saryu is a one-time purchase with no subscription and no automatic renewal.

Current features, future local features, and local updates are included. A future service with new server or model costs may be sold separately.

The plan includes 120 cloud transcription minutes each month. Microphone and system audio count separately when both are sent. The allowance resets monthly and unused minutes do not roll over. Apple and Whisper transcription run locally and are not counted against that cloud allowance.

After the trial ends, recording, editing, Apple On-Device captions, and Whisper Local captions continue. Export and Cloud transcription require an active trial, purchase, or active legacy access.

Purchases and active legacy access from earlier offers keep the access promised at the time they were obtained. Monthly and annual plans are not offered to new customers.

3. Refund Policy

Each initial purchase and device upgrade has its own 30-day refund period. Refunding only the upgrade returns the account to two Macs. Refunding the base purchase also ends access from a dependent upgrade. Refunds never delete local projects. Requests should be sent to hello@saryu.app from the email address on your account.

4. Your Content

You retain full ownership of all content you create using Saryu, including recordings, screenshots, audio files, subtitles, and exported videos. We claim no rights to your content. Core recording, editing, and export stay on your Mac. If you choose Cloud transcription, audio is uploaded through Convex to Deepgram, or to Sarvam for Telugu, for that transcription request.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Saryu to:

• Record, capture, or distribute content without the consent of individuals being recorded, where such consent is required by applicable law.
• Create content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable.
• Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law or regulation.
• Infringe on the intellectual property rights of others.
• Attempt to circumvent any licensing restrictions or access controls.

6. Intellectual Property

Saryu, including its code, design, branding, and documentation, is the intellectual property of Vinay Mora. All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved. The Saryu name, logo, and associated branding are trademarks and may not be used without prior written permission.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

Saryu is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of Saryu. Our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the software in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

9. Termination

We may terminate or suspend access for a material violation of these Terms. Upon termination, your license to use the software ceases. You may stop using Saryu at any time by uninstalling the app. Recording and project files stored locally are not deleted by an access change.

10. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or website. Your continued use of Saryu after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Saryu shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first, and if necessary, through binding arbitration.
