Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Saryu, a macOS application and associated website (collectively, the "Service") operated by Vinay Mora ("we," "our," or "us"). By downloading, installing, or using Saryu, you agree to these Terms.

1. License Grant

Subject to your compliance with these Terms and payment of applicable fees, we grant one named user a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Saryu on up to two macOS devices that the user owns or controls. Commercial use is included for that user.

This license does not include the right to: (a) modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software; (b) rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute, or sublicense the software; (c) use the software for any unlawful purpose; or (d) remove or alter any proprietary notices.

2. Subscriptions & Payments

Free Trial

New users receive a 14-day free trial with up to 10 watermarked exports. No credit card is required. The trial begins when you first launch the app and ends when the time or export limit is reached.

Early Access Subscription

New customers can purchase Saryu Early Access for $24.99 per year. The plan covers one person on up to two Macs, commercial use, the core Mac app, and updates released while the subscription remains active. The pricing page and Stripe checkout show the final charge and billing period before you pay.

Payments and subscription billing are processed by Stripe. We store the plan and entitlement details needed to provide access, but Stripe handles payment card information. Subscription changes and cancellations use the account and billing links provided by Saryu or Stripe.

Founding subscribers keep the $24.99 yearly price for the core app while their subscription remains active. If a subscription is cancelled and purchased again later, the price available at that later time applies.

The plan includes 120 cloud transcription minutes each month. Microphone and system audio count separately when both are sent. The allowance resets monthly and unused minutes do not roll over. Apple and Whisper transcription run locally and are not counted against that cloud allowance.

Future features with ongoing model or cloud costs may require a separate AI plan. We will show any separate price before purchase.

Monthly, annual, and lifetime purchases made while those offers were available keep the access promised at the time of purchase.

3. Refund Policy

We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on purchases made through Saryu. If Saryu doesn't meet your needs, contact us within 30 days of purchase. Refund requests should be sent to hello@saryu.app from the email address on your account.

4. Your Content

You retain full ownership of all content you create using Saryu, including recordings, screenshots, audio files, subtitles, and exported videos. We claim no rights to your content. Core recording, editing, and export stay on your Mac. If you choose Cloud transcription, audio is uploaded through Convex to Deepgram, or to Sarvam for Telugu, for that transcription request.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Saryu to:

• Record, capture, or distribute content without the consent of individuals being recorded, where such consent is required by applicable law.
• Create content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable.
• Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law or regulation.
• Infringe on the intellectual property rights of others.
• Attempt to circumvent any licensing restrictions or access controls.

6. Intellectual Property

Saryu, including its code, design, branding, and documentation, is the intellectual property of Vinay Mora. All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved. The Saryu name, logo, and associated branding are trademarks and may not be used without prior written permission.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

Saryu is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of Saryu. Our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the software in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

9. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to Saryu at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. Upon termination, your license to use the software ceases immediately. You may terminate your use at any time by uninstalling the app and cancelling any active subscription through the Saryu or Stripe billing flow.

10. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or website. Your continued use of Saryu after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Saryu shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation first, and if necessary, through binding arbitration.
