Record a screen, window, or area

Pick a capture mode#

Use Screen for a whole display. Use Window for one app window. Use Area when you need a custom rectangle.

Window capture keeps other apps out of the recording. Screen capture is better when you move between apps.

Select the source#

Choose the source button, then select a display, window, or area. A selected source is shown before recording starts.

For Area, drag over the exact region you want. Confirm the selection before you press Record.

Record cleanly#

Close private windows and notifications before a screen capture. Check the preview and audio controls before you start.

System audio needs a screen, window, or area source. If it is unavailable, select the visual source first.
